Jason Silva Says We Should All Try To Be Nonconformists, Live A Creative Life

In 2 Minutes, This Video Will Inspire You To Live Creatively

There are countless ways to describe life. "Zombie-like" shouldn't be one of them.

So says Jason Silva, the host of National Geographic Channel's "Brain Games," in his thought-provoking YouTube series, "Shots of Awe." In his latest video, Silva examines what he calls Nonconformity and the Creative Life, and questions why we so often make safe decisions instead of choices that realize our potential as individuals.

Silva urges viewers to resist simply accepting the reality they're presented with, and instead actively shape their lives into something more creative and life-affirming. A trying task, sure, but one he argues elevates life beyond simply existing as part of the masses.

Over the course of the video's two brief minutes, Silva lays out a philosophical framework to accomplish this, ultimately concluding, along with German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."

Watch Silva's invigorating look at the creative life, above.
