Jeffrey Toobin's No. 1 Question For O.J. Simpson

His book became the basis for FX's "American Crime Story."

The infamous trial of O.J. Simpson has gained a new life in the zeitgeist through FX's "American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson," a dramatic retelling of the ubiquitous courtroom drama that gripped the nation throughout 1995. The series is based on The Run Of His Life, Toobin's 1996 book about the "trial of the century." Though Toobin's deep reporting included conversations with many of the trial's key players, he never got to speak to Simpson himself. But he told HuffPost Live on Tuesday that even now, he would jump at the chance for a conversation with the former football star.

In the video above, watch Toobin discuss the question he'd most want to ask Simpson, and below, see his take on Simpson's own book, the controversial If I Did It, a memoir that contained his description of how he would have murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman if he had, in fact, committed the crimes of which he was acquitted.
