Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Trial: Julia Hudson Filed For Divorce From William Balfour (VIDEO)

Hudson's Sister Filed For Divorce From Family's Accused Killer

It turns out his pending trial in the 2008 Hudson family murders are not the only legal matters that William Balfour has on his mind these days: According to court documents, he has also been involved in divorce proceedings from Julia Hudson, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson's sister.

ABC Chicago reports that, according to court documents the station obtained, Julia Hudson was last December granted a divorce from Balfour, the accused killer of her mother, brother and 7-year-old son.

In a letter written from Cook County Jail, where he is detained, Balfour did not challenge the divorce, according to ABC.

The divorce proceedings, according to Fox Chicago, did not mention the crimes Balfour is accused of committing.

The Hudson family murder trial is slated to begin Monday at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse. NBC Chicago reports that a limited number of seats in the courthouse will be open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who wish to attend the trial must be 16 years or older and register for their seat a day prior to the trial day they wish to go to.

Trial observers will not be allowed to bring cell phones, bags, coats, purses or any sorts of packages or boxes into the courtroom, according to NBC. The will, relatedly, also not be allowed to tweet from the trial.

Balfour is accused of fatally shooting Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, her brother, Jason Hudson, 29, and her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

Last week, jury selection for the trial wrapped up amid some concerns over what impact Jennifer Hudson's celebrity will have on the proceedings. Hudson is on the potential witness list for the trial.
