Jesse Jackson, Jr. Takes On Debbie Halvorson Over Gun Control In New Ad (VIDEO)

WATCH: Jackson Ad Blasts Halvorson's Record On Gun Control

A new ad released by the campaign to re-elect U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. targets his 2nd Congressional District primary opponent's position on gun control.

The 30-second TV spot, titled "Pam," centers on Pam Bosley, a Chicago woman whose 18-year-old son Terrell was gunned down in front of his church in 2006.

"Debbie Halvorson sided and voted with the Republicans and the NRA against gun control; against the very laws that might have kept my son alive," Bosley says in the ad.

Bosley actively fought Gov. Pat Quinn's abolition of the death penalty last year, arguing that her son's killer, who has not been arrested, does not deserve to live.

"I don't want them to breathe the air that I breathe," Bosley told the Associated Press in March 2011.

Later in the video (above), Bosley ties Jackson to Obama. The Jackson camp has been increasingly emphasizing the representative's ties to the President, a move that has been criticized recently.

The Chicago Tribune, which endorsed Jackson last month, on Friday featured an extensive video interview between the two candidates.
