Gap toothed Australian model Jessica Hart knows her way around the fashion industry. Not only has she graced the cover of Vogue Australia and modeled for Victoria's Secret, the New York resident is also an avid blogger.

She also knows her way around the world of design. Last year, Hart teamed up with British department store Selfridges on a capsule collection, "I still do the collaboration, but it's not really available in New York, so I wanted to have something that people could get their hands on here."

Enter her new line with New York-based brand, Pencey. Although Hart may have found a successful side career with her clothing lines, she never planned on being a designer: "I never thought about it, really. Since I have been modeling, my love for clothes grew and from that, I started wanting to make my own things. I was just like, ‘Okay, I just need to do my own thing.’" Modeling has definitely contributed to her new passion, "I think it’s taught me a lot about my style and let me be more creative. Growing up, I used to be such a tomboy and I’d throw on tracksuit pants or whatever was comfortable. I didn’t understand wearing something uncomfortable for the look, but being a model and in the industry and really getting to know amazing clothes and having the chance to wear beautiful things, you just really – it really opens up your eyes."

Hart's collection for Pencey includes a lot of denim, bright colors, head-to-toe patterns (a-la Celine) and pajama-inspired separates. "It's all a little bit of a '70s vibe," she explained, "I’m really claustrophobic, but I really like wearing my top button buttoned all the way. I think it dresses everything up, which I really like."

Hart was wearing a floral silk button down with matching pants for the presentation, with a black v-neck pull over. She looked great, but she admits that, "it’s hard to pull off, you know? Without the jumper and high heels, it’s gonna look a bit pajama-y." Wearing the denim pieces together, however, is another story. "One day, I was walking my dog in Nolita and I got busted wearing denim-on-denim by street style photographers. In my head, I was like, ‘Oh, I would never wear this.’ And then I saw the picture everywhere and it actually looked really good!"
