A public memorial is being held for Jessica Ridgeway Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada.

According to the announcement on a website set up to take in donations for Jessica's family and provide news about the investigation, the memorial service will be casual dress, but does ask that people wear purple -- Jessica's favorite color.

For those who cannot attend, 9News will be streaming the memorial live.

On the website, Jessica's family thanks the Westminster Police Department, FBI, the community, the media and others for their efforts in locating Jessica, but remind the community that the predator is still at large:

There is still much that can be done. We have opened a Paypal Account for the family to collect donations for any costs that they may have these funds will also help start a foundation in Jessica’s honor. We want the last thing that they have to deal with is worrying about financial issues during this time. You will find the donation link on the right side of this page.

Law Enforcement still need your help in catching the suspect in this case and to ensure that this tragedy does not befall on to another family.

Jessica went missing on Friday Oct. 5 during her short daily walk to Chelsea Park. Her mom, Sarah Ridgeway, had come home from her night shift and saw her off around 8:30 a.m. before going back inside to get sleep.

On Sunday, investigators say they found a backpack and water bottle believed to be Jessica's in the town of Superior, about six miles away from where she was last seen. The water bottle had her name on it but investigators have declined to say much else about the discarded items that were found.

One day before Jessica's body was positively ID'd by law enforcement, the FBI released a behavioral analysis of Jessica's abductor:

  • Often, someone in the community will unknowingly be associated with the offender of the crime, and may be in a position to observe behavioral changes in that person. They will recognize the changes, and may even question the person about it, but may not relate the changes to that person’s involvement in the crime.
  • Immediately following the incident, he may miss work. The absence will be sudden and unplanned. He may either be a “no show” or he may offer a plausible excuse such as illness, death in the family, car trouble, etc.
  • He may miss scheduled appointments/commitments and be unaccounted for during this period. These appointments/commitments may include such things as medical appointments, meetings with a probation officer, prior commitment to a friend or family member, drug test, etc.
  • He may suddenly leave town, either with no explanation or with some plausible reason.
  • This individual may express an intense interest in the status of this investigation and pay close attention to the media. However, some offenders may quickly turn off media accounts or try to redirect conversations concerning the victims or their families.
  • There may be changes in the usual consumption of alcohol and/or drugs.
  • He may make a change in his appearance or alter something to prevent identification, such as changing the look of his vehicle, clean or discard his vehicle.
