'Daily Show' Correspondent Jessica Williams Eyes Media Mogul Status

'Daily Show' Correspondent Jessica Williams Covers Wired

Comedian, writer and "The Daily Show" correspondent Jessica Williams is aiming to add media mogul to her already impressive resume.

As Wired's most recent cover star, Williams penned a poignant -- and frequently hilarious -- first-person essay for the magazine, detailing the current state of celebrity news and her dreams of pushing gossip sites toward smarter cultural analysis.

"There's something missing in all this new new media craziness, and that is something that uses celebrity news as a way to get into a really serious analysis of our culture," Williams wrote, referring to her rebranded, intellectual take on TMZ as "JMZ" and citing Oprah as her main source of inspiration. "The Kardashians are walking clickbait -- but let's look closer. Do Kim and Kanye affect how society feels about interracial relationships and blended families?"

"When they think they're getting dirt, we give them vegetables," she continued. "Which is kind of what 'The Daily Show' does already."
