They're all but stuck at the hip these days, hitting the inauguration together and celebrating each other's birthdays, but both Katy Perry and John Mayer have been determinedly quiet about their blossoming relationship. Now the 35-year-old singer-songwriter breaks his silence on his relationship with the "Firework" pop star in a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

When asked about his feelings for Perry, 28, Mayer said: "I mean, I'm quite happy. I'm happy in all aspects of my life. I'm very happy in all aspects of my life."

He added that he has also struggled with maintaining privacy as someone who lives his life in the public eye. "I mean, I used to be incredibly put off by somebody taking a picture, thinking as if in some way it was it was invading my brain. But all it is is you can see where I was last weekend. That's all. So now you got a picture of where I was last weekend. That's not tremendously frightening to me."

Mayer's reluctance to air out his personal life to the public comes with good reason. In June 2012, the singer expressed bitterness at being the subject of Taylor Swift's 2010 hit song "Dear John," presumably about the brief romance between the pair back in 2009. "I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at the time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?" he told Rolling Stone magazine.

Then again, Mayer should be used to the romantic spotlight by now. He's dated a litany of famous female musicians and actresses, among them Minka Kelly, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
