McEnroe gonna McEnroe.
Never one to hold back an opinion, tennis champion-turned commentator John McEnroe told Jimmy Kimmel during an appearance on Wednesday that he likes his chances in a matchup against Serena Williams.
"I believe that I could still take her," McEnroe, a former world No. 1 and winner of seven Grand Slam singles titles, said.
The tennis player said Donald Trump once made an offer of $1 million for McEnroe and Williams to square off 15 years ago.
"I felt like [the offer] was not enough," he said, adding that he believes Trump was just "humoring the two of us."
McEnroe, with his wry sense of humor, said the stakes are high for both him and Williams.
"She's got a lot to lose by losing to an old fart like myself," he said. "And I've got a lot to lose, because if I lose to God-forbid, a woman, then I'm not allowed in any men's locker room for the next 15 years or possibly the end of my life."
Luckily for us, McEnroe can't deny Williams' dominance on the court.
While speaking about her possible Grand Slam, which she could achieve if she wins the U.S. Open title, McEnroe called Williams "the greatest player that ever lived."
