Man Leaves Daughter With Gun To Get Head Tattoo: Cops

Someone wasn't using his head.

Albuquerque father John Ruiz has been charged with child endangerment after police say he left his 11-year-old daughter at home with a loaded gun while he went to get a tattoo on his noggin.

Ruiz, 43, was arrested on Saturday after a neighbor saw the girl at her apartment complex pool with the .22 caliber gun under her towel, the Albuquerque Journal reports.

Police were called and the girl reportedly told investigators her dad said the pistol is there in case someone breaks in, according to KOAT TV. She said he keeps the weapon on the counter or under his pillow.

The tattoo Ruiz chose for his head says "In God I trust."

Ruiz was released after posting $15,000 bond.

He appeared in court on Monday and discussed the incident with reporters afterwards.

“You guys don’t know about harassment or anything else,” Ruiz told KOB TV. “We’re good people, I don’t know what to tell you. I made a mistake, that’s it.”
