Jon Huntsman's Mystery Motorcyclist Returns

Jon Huntsman's Mystery Motorcyclist Returns

Here's your latest update on the multimedia performance art piece known as "The Jon Huntsman Campaign." When we last left off, they had created a new, spartan website of information that came with a Fred Davis-conceived web-ad featuring a lone motorcyclist riding across Monument Valley.

I figured that there would be more to come, and lo and behold: today, we have the next piece in this subtle puzzle. Mr. Motorcycle is back, still riding through the desert wash, only now he's taken his game off road. The text appears, "In four days," followed by, "Has seven children, one from India, one from China." Hooray! More quotidian facts about Jon Huntsman!

What does it all mean? It means Huntsman and David have figured out a way to get us to cover "the Huntsman campaign" by exploiting our love of mystery. "What will happen next?" we all wonder. And will the ending be as satisfying as the one on "Lost"? (Actually, for many, it might.)

The question that might be raised at this point is: "Well, this is getting attention, but is it a good sort of attention?" And the answer to that question is: "As long as there is no crotch-shot, there is only the good sort of attention." (And I'm not ruling out the possibility that the Huntsman campaign won't find a way to make a crotch-shot work for them, either.)

The point is, I'm sure all the Huntsman campaign cares about at this point is that everyone just spells the man's name correctly. (Actually, this is a problem--if I had a dollar for everything I've read in the past two months that spells his last name "Hunstman," I could probably self-finance my own Fred Davis-shot pastoral web short.)
