Julie McPike, Barrington Woman, Accused Of Hosting Keg Party For Underage Drinkers

Suburban Mother Accused Of Hosting Underage Kegger

A Barrington woman is due in court later this month after being accused of hosting a large underage drinking party for her 18-year-old daughter and a number of her friends in her front yard in late July.

The party, held at the home of Julie McPike, 49, on the 200 block of Beverly Road in Barrington, was brought to law enforcement officials' attention after neighbors complained that some 30 cars were parked along the street on the night of July 28, the Daily Herald reports.

When police arrived on the scene around 9:30 p.m. that night, they reportedly witnessed a number of party-goers fleeing from the premises, according to TribLocal. Police then saw a half keg of beer and charged the four remaining 18-year-old, underage drinkers, including McPike's daughter Julie, with consumption of alcohol by a minor. McPike was also charged, though it is not yet known who purchased the keg.

"All these kids are drinking a keg while she’s there," a Barrington detective told the Tribune.

The Tribune also notes that the McPike residence has been the subject of police attention previously: in 2004, Julie's husband, Brian, was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer after throwing a Barrington officer, who had responded to a domestic battery call at their house, down two flights of stairs.

McPike and the four accused underage drinkers will appear in the Cook County Courthouse Aug. 29 in Rolling Meadows.
