Kanye West, singer, producer, artist, designer, thought leader and future president, has lots of thoughts about lots of important things. But none of them, we now know, are more accurate and on point than his thoughts on sweatshirts.

"Sweatshirts are fucking important," West told Dirk Standen in a new interview with Vanity Fair. "That might sound like the funniest quote ever. How can you say all this stuff about running for president in 2020 and then say sweatshirts are important? But they are. Just mark my words. Mark my words like Mark Twain."

We have marked your words like Mark Twain, Kanye. And we agree. Who doesn't like a good sweatshirt? Especially during the fall months, when you can't get away with just a shirt anymore and you aren't quite ready to pull out the winter coat? Amen, Kanye. Amen.

Some other choice quotes from the interview:

  • "You know when you see people’s dogs look like them? I want people’s clothes to look like them."
  • "It’s fun to be a rock star."
  • "When I run for president, I’d prefer not to run against someone."
  • "As soon as I heard [Ben] Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him. I was like, this is the most brilliant guy."
  • "I love being in the factory more than I love being in a photograph."
  • "The only concrete plan is that I plan to use concrete."
