Katy Perry On Dating: 'It's Not Really Appropriate To Have Anything Serious'

Since Katy Perry and her husband of just over a year, Russell Brand, split, the pop star's life has been under a microscope. She's been busy touring and promoting her new movie, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," but what's one thing she's not ready to seriously tackle: Dating.

Though Perry was photographed getting close to Florence + The Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd at Coachella in April, the singer insists she's not ready to move on after her divorce.

"That's not even appropriate to label," she told USA Today about her relationship with Ackroyd, which has reportedly cooled off. "There are times I go out and meet people and flirt, but it's not really appropriate to have anything serious."

Perry and Brand married in October 2010 in India and announced their split in December 2011. Though Brand isn't directly mentioned in her documentary, which hit theaters July 5, the film does show Perry struggling to keep her marriage together. However, the singer hopes her decision to include some of her personal problems in "Katy Perry: Part of Me" will help others.

"I think that people will relate to the movie even more seeing me at my lowest point and now at my highest point," she told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" last month.

Though her dream wedding is long gone and her marriage is part of her past, Perry says her story is far from over.

"My fairy tale has absolutely changed," she told USA Today. "I don't need the Prince Charming to have my own happy ending ... I can make the happy ending myself."
