Klay Thompson Dominates In First Half, Warriors Beat Spurs In Game 2 (VIDEO)

Klay Thompson Goes Off

The Warriors didn't need another prolific performance from Steph Curry in the third quarter to build a big lead against San Antonio in Game 2. That's because Golden State's other sharpshooter, Klay Thompson, caught fire in the first half.

Out of Thompson's 34 points, 29 of them were scored in the first and second quarters. The 6'7" guard buried seven three-pointers in the first half, five of which came in the second quarter as the Warriors took a 19-point lead into halftime.

To put the NBA sophomore's incredible half in perspective, the Boston Celtics scored fewer than 29 points in three different halves during their first-round series against the Knicks, per John Karalis of redsarmy.com.

"That is in the discussion for one of the greatest halves ever," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said of Thompson’s first half, via Sports Illustrated. "Not only what he did offensively but what he did defensively. You slow it down, you see the multiple effort plays, you see the attention to detail defensively. He’s playing a future Hall of Famer and he’s making him work for everything. That’s a tough task."

Thompson finished with a career-high 34 points and 14 rebounds as Golden State went on to win 100-91.
