A massive brawl broke out in a Florida courthouse when families of an accused murderer and the victims found themselves packed into a small space outside the courtoom. Watch the video above.
Relatives on both sides showed up Monday to serve as witnesses in the trial of Jason Clair, who is claiming self-defense under Florida's controversial "Stand Your Ground" law for the killing of brothers Joel and James Kun outside a St. Cloud bar last year.
Even though the trial was postponed, emotions ran high.
Jeremy Milyon, a family friend of the victims, is accused with starting the fight when he allegedly confronted and punched the accused's stepfather, James "Zeke" Parker, who said "You want a piece of me? Let's go," according to the Orlando Sentinel.
As Kun relatives and friends attacked him, WTVR reports that Parker stated “Just like your sons … double team. You see three of them there jumping on me?," referring to Clair's defense that the Kun brothers had beat him up prior to his fatal self-defense shot.
Milyon reportedly suffered a broken jaw and he as well as Parker and the victims' father, James Kun Sr., were charged with misdemeanors of affray.
St. Cloud Detective Christian Anderson said that in his 17-year career he has never seen anything like it before.
"I stepped in to intervene, just based on the hostile actions, and while trying to stop it, I ended up getting struck in the back of the head," Anderson said, according to ABC News.
