LA Wind Storm Tuesday Night Left Thousands Without Power (VIDEO)

Whoever says LA does not get any weather has not been here for our winds.

Winds up to 65 miles per hour wreaked havoc across Southern California Tuesday night, knocking over large power lines and trees.

In South LA, a large tree fell on top of a moving truck, forcing the driver, who was uninjured, to crawl out of the passenger side door, ABC reports.

In La Crescenta, residents told NBC they heard palm fronds crash to the pavement, ripping down powerlines and causing a transformer to explode.

"I think there was a big gun or explosion that went off," one resident said.

About 2,000 residents in South Los Angeles and 600 in Encino lost power early Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Times reports. As of 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, the LA Department of Water and Power said power was restored to almost all of its customers.
