Lady Gaga's New Single To Make Its Debut At MTV Video Music Awards On August 25

Lady Gaga's BIG Announcement

Good news, Little Monsters: Lady Gaga has big plans to debut her new single. MTV announced Thursday that Mother Monster will perform the first single off of her upcoming "ARTPOP" album at this year's Video Music Awards.

Airing at 9:00 p.m. EST on August 25, the 30th annual Video Music Awards will play host to Lady Gaga, who will perform the single live during the awards show. The 27-year-old singer's VMA performance will be the first taste of her highly anticipated fifth studio album, due out in November.

Lady Gaga took to her Little Monsters fan site earlier this week to open up about the single, writing, "'ARTPOP' as they pry the single from my bleeding fingers. It's a scary thing to revisit those things underneath, the pain in your past. But all I found was raw passion. I thought I was destroyed inside. I'm just ready to fight. Start the music."

Held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, the Video Music Awards honor the year's best in music visuals. Justin Timberlake tied Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for the most nominations this year, both earning six nods. Each artist is up for Video of the Year -- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for their smash hit "Thrift Shop" and Justin Timberlake for his emotional clip for "Mirrors." Other videos up for the title are Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven," Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble," and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines."
