Lake Forest Home For Sale, With Separate House For The Kids

WATCH: House For Sale In Lake Forest, With Separate Home For The Kids

As any parent knows, teenagers can be hard to share a roof with. In the early 1940s, Lake Forest couple Milt and Sylvia Clow came up with a clever solution to that problem: don't.

Dennis Rodkin, real estate writer for Chicago magazine, describes the Clow's home(s) in his Deal Estate column this week. He explains that the Lake Forest couple built one house for themselves--and a separate house across the driveway for their two teens.

The parents' house, the children's house and a third small servants' cottage are all being sold together on the 3.7 acre lot. List price is $3.5 million, which some might argue is a small price to pay for having the teenagers out of the house.
