Lanvin Fall Campaign Features Real People In 'Democratic' Approach (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Lanvin Puts Real People In Fall Ad Campaign

Lanvin may be one of Paris' oldest fashion houses, but that doesn't mean that it has to create stuffy ad campaigns to represent the brand. Alber Elbaz shakes things up each season, tapping Steven Meisel to fill his Summer 2012 campaign with snakes and releasing a video of Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman boogying down for Fall 2011.

So what's a creative director to do once he's already featured reptiles and shamelessly dancing models? Cast real-life non-models, of course. Elbaz rode the fashion industry's street-style wave and chose men and women ranging in age from 18 to 80 to be snapped by Steven Meisel in his high-fashion designs. Elbaz told Women's Wear Daily:

I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes. It felt like a crazy family, and I like that.

By the looks of the ads, it doesn't seem like Elbaz sacrificed any glamour by nixing models. He hand-picked a range of participants from a waiter to a milliner to a former Apollo showgirl (his eldest and possibly fiercest participant). "There was something very democratic about the approach," he added.

Expect to see these real people infiltrate the internet in a viral video on August 21 and the pages of fashion glossies in September. Until then, check out a couple of the ads below. Don't you think that the participants could easily be "real" models?
