LeAnn Rimes' Affair Takes Center Stage On New Album, 'Spitfire' (VIDEO)

LISTEN: LeAnn Rimes Sings About Affair On New Album

With the release of her new album "Spitfire" on Tuesday, LeAnn Rimes is ready to set the record straight about her love life.

Rimes became a tabloid fixture after her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian resulted in both stars divorcing their partners and marrying each other. Now, the country singer is using her new album to address the scandal.

One track in particular, "Borrowed," is about falling in love with a married man.

“I carried that song around for eight or nine months,” Rimes told the New York Times late last week. “I was kind of afraid and ashamed of writing it. There were a lot of things in there that I admitted to myself for the first time, and I’d never really written a song like that that was so honest. There was no hiding -- no question who or what it was about.”

The song, which can be heard in its entirety above, includes the lyrics, "I know you’re not mine, only borrowed, ’cause you already belong to her, at least you said so, but I’m starting to believe it ain’t the whole truth, as we're lying side by side I get the whole you."

Rimes and Cibrian met in 2009 while filming the Lifetime movie "Northern Lights." Rimes was married to her former backup dancer Dean Sheremet at the time, and Cibrian was married to "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Brandi Glanville. After both their repsective divorces were finalized, Rimes and Cibrian married in April 2011.

Rimes isn't the only musician to sing about a split. Click through the slideshow below for more songs inspired by divorce.
