Lil Bub & Friendz: Important VICE Documentary On Famous Cats To Be Featured At Tribeca Film Festival

Finally, Lil Bub Gets Her Own Documentary

Lil Bub was born a star.

The perma-kitten, with her ridiculous tongue and gigantic eyes, finally has the documentary treatment she deserves. It's no surprise that VICE's "Lil Bub & Friendz" has already been accepted into the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

But it's been a long road for Lil Bub and her gang of Internet-famous pussies -- Grumpy Cat, Nyan Cat and Keyboard Cat -- complete with all the lashings out you'd expect from a budding icon.

In November last year, Lil Bub famously talked smack about Grumpy Cat to HuffPost Weird News (and VICE documentarian Juliette Eisner caught all the action on camera). In December, Bub made the talk show rounds and even sat down with Andrew WK to promote "kindness and positivity in the face of adversity."

Eisner, who directed and produced the film with VICE's Andy Capper, said Lil Bub's story isn't just the tale of a cat with a crazy cute face. It's a story from the Internet, about the Internet.

"The film will focus on the ever-growing obsession with cats on the Internet, through the experience of the [Internet Cat Video Festival] with Lil Bub as the 'protagonist' of sorts," she previously told HuffPost Weird News. "It will also feature a number of various cat video directors and other individuals who continue to feed the Internet-cat-fire every single day on the web."

"Lil Bub & Friendz" will be aired at the festival, which runs from April 17 - 20. If you can't make it to New York City, you'll have to wait until VICE shares it back where it all began: on the Internet.
