Lisa Murkowski Ad Revives Ted Stevens For Endorsement (VIDEO)

WATCH: Lisa Murkowski Summons Deceased Ted Stevens In New Ad

Sen. Lisa Murkowski is up with a latest political ad that highlights an endorsement from the late Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator in history, who died in August.

The ad begins with an approval from Stevens's daughter, Sue Covich:

"My dad and Lisa made a great team for Alaska and were always loyal to each other and to the state they loved," Covich says. "What some Alaskans don't know is that my father made a campaign commercial for Lisa that was scheduled to run just days after we lost him. Putting our family before her campaign, Lisa made certain the ad did not air out of respect to my dad and our family. Now, my family and I want you to hear for yourself how strongly he felt about the need to re-elect Lisa."

The add then fades to footage of Stevens, who gives direct praise to Murkowski.

"I trust Lisa and her commitment to keep fighting for us. She's working for Alaska every single day," Stevens says. "We need Lisa and the seniority she's earned, now more than ever."

The ad then switches back to a shot of Murkowski thanking Covich for her and her father's "continued support."

Stevens reportedly filmed his appearance in the days leading up to his fatal plane crash in early August, weeks before Murkowski lost the Republican primary to Joe Miller.

Stevens, like Murkowski, was renowned in Alaska and in Washington for his ability to bring federal funds to the Frontier State. His popularity and tenure in Alaska politics earned him the nickname "Uncle Ted," and his support for Murkowski's write-in campaign against anti-government Tea Party-backed Joe Miller could prove to be a tipping point in an already deadlocked contest.
