Long Island Serial Killer: Cops Have A Suspect

Cops: Long Island Serial Killer Is In Our Sights

Police said they're narrowing in on a suspect they believe is the "Long Island Ripper."

A source with knowledge of the investigation told the New York Post that cops are "looking at somebody."

The source did not go into further detail.

Since January, police have been searching for a serial killer responsible for the deaths of at least eight prostitutes.

On Tuesday, police announced that they had broadened their search for victims after they discovered the remains of an eighth body.

A day before, news surfaced that searchers found three more sets of remains near Oak Beach.

Nassau and State police will begin a search Monday along both sides of Ocean Parkway west of where the remains were found this week.

"It is possible we missed something," said Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dormer. "We tell people they should be careful with any contact they make with strangers, especially women involved in the escort business."
