Lynsie Ekelund's Remains May Have Been Found In California

Remains Believed To Be Those Of Student Missing For 10 Years Found

Police believe they have found the remains of Fullerton College student who went missing in 2001.

According to the OC Register, Christopher Michael McAmis, who has been charged with the murder of student Lynsie Ekelund, took police to the remains in a "remote mountain area."

More from the Register:

McAmis admitted to killing Ekelund and then disposing of her body several days later in what was then a job site where he and his father were involved in a construction project, [Placentia police Detective Corinne] Loomis said.

The remains were uncovered midafternoon Wednesday. Authorities were forced to suspend their work for the night but are expected to complete the exhumation Thursday, Loomis said.

According to KTLA, Ekelund was last seen with McAmis and two friends at a San Diego club. Ekelund's case was reopened in 2008 and McAmis, now 31, was arrested last week.
