Man Arrested For Telling Kids The Truth About Santa

Man Arrested For Telling Kids The Truth About Santa

A man was arrested in Canada for outing Santa Claus.

The 24-year-old had been walking the route of a the Christmas parade in Kingston, Ontario last weekend, and telling children in the crowd that Santa doesn’t exist. Police were called and the website vancouver.24hrs reports they found their suspect easily, because he had “ his hair formed to look like horns that were protruding from his head."

He was charged with causing a disturbance, public intoxication, and violating his probation.

It is that time of year again, when parents wrestle with whether and for how long their children should believe. Are we lying to our kids to perpetuate the magic for them or for us? What to do when your child is the one who spills the secret first? Is it okay to bring Santa into homes that don't otherwise believe in Christmas?

As the Santa season begins (his official entrance is at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, right?) the man with the horns in Canada seems as good a place to start as any. What if he hadn’t been drunk (and didn’t have such statement hair)? Should anyone be allowed to yell this particular truth to a crowd of kids who are excited to see Santa?
