The feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj is easily the hottest topic when it comes to "American Idol" Season 12.

The two new judges on the Fox singing competition series reportedly hadn't been getting along (to say the least) during filming and though Carey denied that the friction is still an issue on "Nightline" Monday night, it did resurface when Barbara Walters asked about Minaj's new song.

Walters read the following lyric to Carey: "I'll take it. Sign on the dotted line ... but I'm quick to a check a bitch if she's out of line" and then asked, "Are you the bitch she's singing about?"

Carey seemed to roll her eyes and replied, "Don't know. I didn't know she sang. I thought she rapped. Or whatever."

Watch the full interview with Carey on "Dateline" here and tune in for the premiere of "American Idol" with Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on Wednesday, January 16 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
