Shots to the groin in sports can be hilarious as long as a player, official or coach doesn't actually get seriously injured.
Well, Edmonton Oilers forward Matt Hendricks was very close to being part a non-funny groin shot on Thursday night.
In the second period of the Oilers' 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars, Hendricks got in front of a Alex Goligoski slap shot. As you can see, the forward immediately feels the effects of the hit.
Although Hendricks was in obvious pain, he tweeted a picture of his broken cup after the game, suggesting that the injury could have been much worse.
Always wear the appropriate protective gear, kids.
