Max Pacioretty Injury: Canadiens Winger Carried Off On Stretcher After Zdeno Chara Hit (VIDEO)

NHL Player Taken Off On Stretcher

A scary moment occurred with just 16 seconds left in the second period of Tuesday night's game between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins.

Boston's Zdeno Chara was skating behind Canadiens winger Max Pacioretty as he was chasing the puck near Boston's bench. Chara checked Pacioretty and his head collided headfirst into the glass.

The 22-year-old was motionless on the ice for a few minutes until he was carried off on a stretcher.

The referees gave Chara a 5-minute major for interference and a game misconduct.

Pacioretty was reportedly "conscious and moving his extremities" after he was taken to the hospital.

According to NESN, Chara said after the game that he knew that they were close to the bench, but he did not intend to hurt Pacioretty.
