'Meet The Press' Books NRA's Wayne LaPierre

'Meet The Press' Lands Huge Interview

"Meet the Press" has landed NRA CEO's Wayne LaPierre's first interview since Friday's tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

Host David Gregory tweeted the news on Thursday. LaPierre will appear on the show Sunday. "The NRA is ready to talk," executive producer Betsy Fischer Martin wrote.

The organization has come under much scrutiny in the wake of the shooting. Twenty-seven people, including twenty children, were shot and killed in the tragedy. The NRA remained silent immediately after the horrific events — retreating on social media — until Tuesday, when it spoke out for the first time since the shooting.

LaPierre has already been roundly criticized. On Tuesday, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell alleged that he had the "blood" of the victims on his hands.
