Police: Double Murder, Suicide Linked To Broken Romance

Police in Texas say a love triangle led a woman to kill her ex-boyfriend and another woman before taking her own life.

City of Murphy residents said they heard what sounded like gunshots around 6:30 a.m., Saturday, MyFoxDallas reports. When officers arrived, they discovered two deceased victims, later identified as Jonathon Masin, 40, of Murphy and Amy R. Picchioti, 38, of Dallas.

Later that day, police responded to the apparent suicide of Michelle Boyer, 45. Investigators linked Boyer to the deaths of Masin and Picchioti, saying that a gun similar to the weapon believed to have been used in the double killing was found at the scene of the suicide.

In addition, police found a letter near Boyer's body that included details about the deadly attack, according to CBS DFW. The note has not been released.

The Dallas Morning News spoke with a friend of Boyer:

Brian Hasenbauer, who knew both women well, said Boyer told him she was in a committed relationship with Masin when she learned Picchiotti, one of her best friends, was also having a relationship with him.

“We discussed the situation, and we tried to provide her comfort in dealing with the pain she was experiencing,” Hasenbauer wrote in an email. “We never imagined that this would ever happen, and we are praying for those that lost their lives.”

City Manager James Fisher said he could not remember the quiet neighborhood ever experiencing such a horrible crime.

"It's very rare," he told WFAA. . "I do not recall of having one at any time.”
