Michigan Meningitis: 87-Year-Old Woman From Washtenaw County Dies of Infection

Meningitis Outbreak Causes Another Death

(LANSING, Mich.) -- A new death related to meningitis was reported by the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) on Thursday.

An 87-year-old woman died from Washtenaw County.

The MDCH reports that 11 deaths have been associated to meningitis in Michigan.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration are working together in a multi-state investigation of meningitis among patients who had received steroid injections from a contaminated product, which is reported to be the cause of the outbreak.
