Starbucks' Midnight Mint Mocha Frapp Couldn't Be Further From The Unicorn Frappuccino

The Unicorn Frappuccino was created and put to rest ― a blessing to baristas everywhere ― in just a couple weeks time. While DIYers are hard at work making homemade versions of the sweet and sour, brightly-colored frozen beverage, Starbucks had other plans: the Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino .

This latest frapp is basically the anti-unicorn frappuccino ― the bright colors of the unicorn have been put to rest with chocolate in this jet-black drink. This latest concotion is made with a layer of mint sugar crystal-infused cocoa, a layer of whipped cream, another layer of mint cocoa, topped with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa.

The jet black color― which food experts believe to be the next wave in food trends ― was a deliberate choice. “People are gravitating toward vibrant colors,” Ryan Coombes, beverage development manager for Starbucks, said in a press release, “jet black is filling the void in unexpected places.”
