Milking One Of The World's Most Venomous Fish Is No Day At The Beach

What if you were offered a chance to get up close and personal with one of the most venomous fish in the world?

If you're like most people, you'd probably pass up the opportunity. But Destin Sandlin, host of the online series Smarter Every Day, didn't just get close to a stonefish -- he helped "milk" it! Just check out the video above.

In the death-defying sequence, Alabama-based Destin watches as Dr. Jamie Seymour, a venom biologist at James Cook University in Australia, extracts deadly venom from the spines of the scary-looking fish.

The stonefish is a mostly marine species that lives in coastal regions of the Pacific Ocean as well as in the Caribbean and off the coast of Florida.

We recommend watching the entire video. But if you're short on time, the actual milking process begins at about 3:13. It's pretty dramatic!
