Morrissey is certainly no stranger to controversy. The former Smith's singer, a longtime vegetarian, has made his thoughts on meat-eating abundantly clear in his latest Q&A with fans. He took to True To You, an online fan site dedicated to the artist, and answered questions submitted by his devout listeners.

"I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia. They are both rape, violence, murder," he said.

Continuing his comparison of the meat industry to other horrible human-related situations, he also likened the slaughter of animals to genocide, saying, "If you believe in the abattoir then you would support Auschwitz."

He's not holding anything back. Morrissey suggests that everyone watch the YouTube video titled, "The Video the Meat Industry Doesn't Want You To See" in order to see his perspective, and that if it does not make a person want to switch to vegetarianism, they're "probably granite."

Morrissey is an animal rights activist to his core, saying that he would support a complete ban on all zoos and circuses.

He believes that all animals should have the same basic rights as human beings, saying, "I would like to ask meat-eaters why they believe that animals should not have any rights to live their own lives, whilst humans fiercely demand a god-given right to live as they wish simply by reason of their birth alone."

In fact, Morrissey's proudest accomplishments are when he is able to turn others away from meat-inclusive diets. He has been touting the meat-free lifestyle for more than two decades now, and has taken such measures as writing a song called "Meat is Murder" with The Smiths, canceling performances that also feature meat-eaters and frequently interviewing and collaborating with PETA.

Recently, Morrissey auctioned off a signed copy of his autobiography, which was released in October of 2013. The signed book sold for more than $13,500 (£8,000), the proceeds of which were donated to the animal rights group PETA.
