Is The Health Of Mothers and Children Around The World Better Than It Was 10 Years Ago?

Here's a look back at the advances made on behalf of mothers and children everywhere -- and a look ahead to needs yet to be addressed.

It wasn’t until the mid-1990s that 179 countries came together and pledged to focus on improving maternal and child health and gender equality. A few years later, the largest group of countries in history agreed to the millennium development goals, including concrete improvements in women’s and children’s health.

Better technology, more attention and support, and local action have brought us a long way in tracking and improving outcomes for women and children around the world. But we have further to go. In partnership with Johnson & Johnson, here we look back at the advances made on behalf of mothers and children everywhere -- and look ahead to needs yet to be addressed.

As we ring in another year, Johnson & Johnson remains dedicated to its commitment to improving lives for women, children and families around the world. By working with partners in healthcare, Johnson & Johnson continues to advance the health and well-being of over a billion people throughout the world, every day.
