You Should 'Seriously Think Twice' Before Marrying Someone With Parents Like This

You love him. He loves you. But the love between you and his parents is pretty much non-existent.

If this sounds even vaguely familiar, it might be time to give some major thought to you and your S.O.'s future as a couple, relationship expert Dr. Yvonne K. Fulbright said on HuffPost Live Thursday.

"If you know you're getting into a situation where you're going to marry a person and there's already in-law issues, seriously think twice before taking that step and make sure you seek out some sort of marriage and family therapist or counselor or somebody who can give you professional guidance."

Letting the problem fester may lead to you and you alone taking the blame for the uneasy parent-in-law relationship, Fulbright warns.

"So many women feel so alone because the husband or the fiancé does not see this as a problem and then she's made to feel that she's the problem because she's taken issue with being maltreated," Fulbright says.
