'Motorboating Girls For Breast Cancer Awareness' Is One Of The Worst Ideas Ever

This Is One Of The Worst Ideas Ever

Breast cancer awareness, already an often "pinkwashed" and overly-sexualized issue, has taken a seriously creepy turn.

A group of three pickup artists generously pledged to donate $20 to breast cancer research for every woman who allowed them to "motorboat" her. For anyone unfamiliar with the term, motorboating involves pushing a woman's breasts together and vigorously rubbing your face in her cleavage.

The resulting video is truly uncomfortable to watch. Isn't there a way to raise awareness about breast cancer without borderline sexually harassing strangers? Spoiler alert: There definitely is. For example, these striking scar portraits of cancer survivors are far more compelling than a motorboating YouTube video.

The trio raised $2,080, which means that 104 girls agreed to participate, but very few of the women filmed look like they actually enjoyed the motorboating. It's hard to say "no" to someone when faced with a video camera and the line, "It's for cancer!"
