MTA To Start Weeknight Repair Shutdowns

MTA To Start Weeknight Repair Shutdowns In January

In honor of Jay Lhota's first day as MTA chief on Monday, the MTA has some bad news with plans to begin repair closures on weeknights beginning January 9th from 10PM to 5AM.

NY1 reports the shutdowns are scheduled for up to five consecutive weeknights. They go as follows:

Lexington Avenue 4, 5, and 6: January 9-13 suspended from Grand Central to Atlantic Avenue

Seventh Avenue 1, 2, and 3: February 13-17 suspended from 34th Street-Penn Station and Atlantic Avenue

Sixth Avenue B, D, F and M: February 20-24 trains suspended from 59th and West 4th Streets

Eighth Avenue A, C and E: March 12-March 16 suspended from 59th Street to Jay Street in Brooklyn

Transit officials say the weeknight shutdowns are necessary inconveniences and are more efficient than the MTA's traditional weekends only closures.

The announcement coincides with a report from The Post on Sunday that cites the 2nd Avenue Subway may end up costing the city $27 million personal injury lawsuits incurred by the construction currently underway.
