Comedian Neal Brennan Clarifies 'Kale' Remarks About 'Louie'

Comedian Says Critics 'Fall All Over Themselves' About 'Louie'

Earlier this week, comedian and "Chappelle's Show" co-creator Neal Brennan ruffled feathers when he criticized "Louie" in a promotional video for his upcoming show, "The Approval Matrix." Brennan, while maintaing his love for Louis C.K. as a comic, said C.K.'s hit show is like "kale of television."

When Brennan stopped by HuffPost Live on Monday to chat about "The Approval Matrix," he clarified his remarks about "Louie."

"I'm not even really talking to Louis because Louis's going to make the show he wants to make," Brennan told host Ricky Camilleri. "I guess I'm talking to all of the critics who fall all over themselves about it. ... Louis's an unbelievable comic and one of the best sketch writers ever, and there are times where he'll have sketches on the show, things that seem like sketches. He just plays them for drama. It's not like he can't do comedy. He just doesn't."
