Things Get (In)Tense In This Exclusive Clip From 'Neon Demon'

The same-sex chemistry is palpable in this scene from " The Neon Demon," Nicolas Winding Refn's hotly-anticipated new thriller.

The above clip, released exclusively to The Huffington Post, shows the virginal Jesse (played by Elle Fanning) being comforted by makeup artist Ruby (Jena Malone).

Things aren't always as they seem, however, and you'll just have to see the movie to find out if Ruby's intentions are strictly friendly.

The film, which hits U.S. theaters on June 24 after its Cannes Film Festival premiere last month, follows Jesse, an aspiring teen model, as she navigates the (literal) cutthroat aspects of Los Angeles's fashion industry.

In a May 23 WWD interview, Fanning praised the film's feminist aspects, noting, “All the boys in it are like the needy girlfriends in other movies, so I’m enjoying playing kind of strong women and portraying that on screen.”
