Netflix App Now Works On All Android Gingerbread And Froyo Devices

Netflix Android App Gets A Huge Upgrade

The latest update to Netflix's mobile app for Android expands support to all devices running Android 2.2 (Froyo) and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The new version of this app is available now in the Android Market for all your Gingerbread and Froyo tablets and smartphones.

When the Netflix app launched for Android devices in May 2011, it was available only on the Samsung Nexus S and five HTC smartphones running Android 2.2. DroidMatters spotted the update on their Android phones that read, simply, "Netflix now supports all Android 2.2 and 2.3 devices." (Visit DroidMatters to see a screen shot.)

News of comprehensive Android support caps off a busy week for Netflix, which has launched streaming services in several Latin American countries and fought back against reports of streaming limits over the course of these early days in September 2011.

Android users with a Netflix subscription can download the new Netflix app here in the Android market.
