A Netflix call center worker was recently fired for improperly accessing several customers' names, credit card numbers, and credit card information.
According to a letter Netflix's senior counsel Sharon Williamson sent to New Hampshire's Attorney General, the company found that an employee had accessed "personal information" about two New Hampshire residents without authorization and had been terminated.
Netflix wrote:
On April 4, 2011, we discovered that an individual working at a Netflix call center had accessed over approximately the past two months, without authorization, the credit card information of some Netflix customers who spoke with the individual over the telephone. The call center employee had access to the following types of personal informtion relating to two New hampshire residents: customer name in combination with credit card number and information.
Netflix adds that it contacted law enforcement after uncovering the employee's rogue activity and fired the worker in question.

UPDATE: Netflix spokesperson Steve Swasey told The Huffington Post, "Netflix has zero tolerance for fraud or theft or deception. We dealt with this individual situation swiftly and decisively."
