New Backstreet Boys Video, 'In A World Like This,' Features Hilltop Crooning, Gay-Friendly Message

Backstreet Boys Debut Gay-Friendly Video

It's been a long while since we've had a new Backstreet Boys video, but now the '90s faves are back with a socially conscious clip for their comeback song "In A World Like This."

It doesn't top their "This Is The End" appearance, but the band's new track will likely please longtime fans. The song sounds like a classic BSB product, cheesy video and all. The guys sing from atop a barren, hilly landscape as images of various couples finding strength in each other's presence are interspersed. One couple celebrates the 1969 moon landing as the news plays out on their television screen while another mourns the 2001 terrorist attacks. In one of the final shots, a female couple takes pride in the first same-sex marriage following the recent overturn of California's Proposition 8.

The "In A World" video premiered Friday morning on "Good Morning America." An album of the same name is slated for a July 30 release, with a world tour set to follow, both marking the group's 20th anniversary.

“The concept of the video is based on the song, which tells a story of how love conquers all and ‘in a world like this’ that we live in, with all the craziness and negative energy that can go around, with real love you can overcome anything,” A.J. McLean said on “GMA.”

McLean went on to say the group is in support of gay marriage and wanted to include an LGBT-friendly message in the video.
