Nick and Jess have been flirting with sexual tension since the first episode, but should a relationship ever be explored between the two of them? While the season finale of "New Girl" (Tue., 9 p.m. ET on Fox) featured some more shared moments between them, nothing came of it.
Nick's attempt to move in with his new old girlfriend sent him into a panic. He drove into the desert and then throw the keys to the moving truck away. When Jess and Cece showed up to rescue the boys, Jess pretended to throw her keys away as well, forcing them to spend a fear-filled night outside.
While Nick finally did make it to his girlfriend's place, when he arrived he just as quickly realized that this wasn't the right place for him. The episode ended with him back in the apartment, blasting music, with most of the roommates dancing their cares away in their separate bedrooms.
Entertainment Weekly thinks a "will they/won't they" Jess-Nick romance "might be best kept a 'don't'" and even listed several reasons why. Certainly the dynamic in the apartment is fine now. Plus, it's refreshing to see grown men and women capable of being friends without feeling the need to start hooking up.
"New Girl" has already been renewed by Fox and will return for the Fall 2012 season.
