New Yorker's Hendrick Hertzberg Slams New York Times Over Obama 'Drugs' Story

The story raised eyebrows at the time, not so much with its content as its placement -- right on the front page. It was a New York Times story about Barack Obama's admitted and admittedly modest drug use as a young man and it came the day before a big primary vote.

Rick Hertzberg, the number two editor at The New Yorker and frequent writer there, offers a scathing appraisal of all this in the new issue, available on its Web site now.
