NFC Championship: Bloomberg Bets On New York Giants Against San Francisco 49ers

Bloomberg's Football Wager: New York Bagels Vs. SF Sourdough Bread

The stakes are high, as the New York Giants fly off to San Francisco for the NFC Championship against the 49ers this weekend.

Despite news of quarterback Eli Manning's recent stomach woes, so confident is our mayor in a victory on Sunday, Bloomberg has announced a friendly wager with San Francisco mayor Edwin Lee. The battle goes as follows:

If the Giants win, Lee has agreed to draping San Francisco's iconic cable cars with Giants flags and send along a package of classic sourdough bread.

If the 49ers win, Bloomberg promises to rename 49th Street in midtown "49ers Street," as well as send along some New York bagels westward.

"Just like Hakeem Nicks ran right past the Packers' secondary, the Giants are going to breeze by the 49ers on their way to the Super Bowl," Bloomberg boasted. "After Sunday, Niners fans will be left with a taste as sour as their famous bread, and the Giants will have their sights set on another trophy."

Last week, Bloomberg made a similar wager with Green Bay mayor Jim Schmitt when the Giants faced off with the Packers. If the Giants proved victorious (which they did, go blue!), Bloomberg is set to relish in local cheese curds and root beer compliments of Schmitt.

It remains unclear, however if Green Bay has indeed followed through on the wager at this time.
