Om Nom Nom Cookies' Anthea Ponsetti On Chat Chow TV (VIDEO)

Meet Miami's Cookie Monster

Anthea Ponsetti learned to bake her first chocolate chip cookie thanks to her mom, but she didn't stop there. After a childhood spent entertaining family members with her desserts at tea time, she headed to culinary school and then launched Miami's very own vegan line of cookies, Om Nom Nom.

Yes, vegan cookies.

"Taste the cookie," she challenges naysayers upset to find themselves off the beaten path to Tollhouse. "Try it for [yourself]. That was kind of the thing I really wanted to focus on when I started toying with the recipes, was to make sure that it didn't taste vegan, that it didn't taste weird, that it didn't taste like 'an alternative cookie.'"

Indeed. Ponsetti's cookies are definitely the product of an 8-year culinary career: she grinds her own walnut flour, recommends pairing them coconut sorbet, and next will launch a chocolate-based coffee cookie with Panther coffee's Ethiopian brew, selected for its berry notes.

Watch above to hear Ponsetti talk about how she got started, what she's planning next, and whether or not the Cookie Monster deserves royalties.
