The photos are nothing but a crude attempt to plant a red herring into our political news cycle.

The New York Post just released a story which features nude photos of Melania Trump, wife of Republican Presidential candidate and walking 4chan/pol/ post Donald Trump. I am not linking to the story, because that’s exactly what Donald Trump and the Post want me to do.

It is no coincidence that this story dropped so quickly after Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for the presidency and Trump invited Russian hackers to sabotage her and our election. Never mind that many are freshly outraged over his treatment of the Khan family. If you ask me, by taking this bait, we are playing into Donald Trump’s ham-fisted and crude attempt to plant a red herring into our political news cycle.

I loathe Donald Trump with the fire of a thousand suns. I have never held so much animosity towards a person whom I have not met. I wonder often how Melania could have married him, but, truly, it is none of my business. And I don’t care if she spent the whole of the 1990s stark naked, every day, for every job, for ten dollars, or a million dollars, or no money at all. Let me repeat that:

I don’t care about Melania Trump’s nude photographs.

And neither should you.

The New York Post endorsed Donald Trump. Why would a publication which endorsed him publish nude photos of his wife in order to sabotage him?

They didn’t. They published nude photos of his wife to sabotage us.

This is, as I have said, a crude red herring, and it is an open invitation for those of us who have decried and denounced Donald Trump’s blatant and consistent sexism to gleefully rip his wife to shreds until there is nothing left of her but our hypocrisy.

I will not do it. You should not do it.

“It is an open invitation for those of us who have ... denounced Trump’s ... consistent sexism to gleefully rip his wife to shreds until there is nothing left of her but our hypocrisy.”

The most disturbing thing about this story is that by publishing it, Donald Trump and the Post are hanging Melania out to dry in a culture which is still, at its core, puritanical, and they know it, never mind the front of she’ll be a model first lady because she’s super hot. They are counting on her being retributively shamed by liberals who are hungry to avenge sexist slights against Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton in order to gain what? A couple of points in the polls?

The opportunity to put his wife — who is clearly uncomfortable with the level of scrutiny she has received, especially since the scandal of her speech at the RNC, for being the wife of Donald Trump — in front of a camera again, fully-clothed, to be stripped down in print or by talking heads on television against her will and without her permission by a media which happily trots out the madonna/whore dichotomy whenever it possibly can? Donald Trump is complicit in allowing a publication which has endorsed him to victimize his own wife. If there is any story worth talking about here, that is it.
