Ronald Reagan's Daughter Has Something To Say About Trump's Second Amendment Comments

"Yes, Mr. Trump, words matter."

Patti Davis, an actress, author and daughter of former President Ronald Reagan, penned a message to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday night, calling his recent comments about the Second Amendment “horrifying.”

On Tuesday, Trump vaguely implied that his supporters could shoot Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton or her picks for the Supreme Court.

“If she gets to pick her judges ― nothing you can do, folks,” he said at a rally in North Carolina. “Although, the Second Amendment people. Maybe there is. I don’t know.”

Davis wrote in a Facebook post that her father had been shot, then went on to scold Trump and remind him that “words matter.”

“Your glib and horrifying comment about ‘Second Amendment people’ was heard around the world,” she wrote. “It was heard by sane and decent people who shudder at your fondness for verbal violence.”

“It was heard by the person sitting alone in a room, locked in his own dark fantasies, who sees unbridled violence as a way to make his mark in the world, and is just looking for ideas,” Davis added.

The Trump campaign has offered variety of explanations for the candidate’s comments, arguing that Trump was encouraging supporters of the Second Amendment to vote or just using a bad metaphor, among other things.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
